I TOOK THE LLEAP There is a new computer wiz in town
and he does not fool around
Studied at NWCC where it doesn't matter your race, age or gender
as long as you can remember
The Golden Rule
read and follow directions
The teachers were great, but in their hands laid our fate
however even at our age we knew it wasn't too late
We took on the computer with all our might
and thanks to the teachers they gave us the knowledge to fight
Now the power we have gained
will put the past to shame
We will take you to Microsoft Word and give you a drive, a folder and a file
along with a smile
From there to Excel a spread sheet you may want
it is as easy as changing a font
Now to the Internet we can go, a web site is a breeze
an E-Mail is easier than a sneeze
Give me a word and I will find a search window
that will make your doubts
dwindle
So if you're a beginner and want to become a winner
take the LLEAP and go to the Northwest Community Center
for you can't lose, it's like college filled with so much knowledge.
....Robert Mooney (May 2003 LLEAP Graduate)

There
has always been a gap between those people and communities
who can make effective use of information technology and
those who cannot. Now,
more than ever, unequal adoption of technology excludes
many from reaping the fruits of the economy.
We
use the term “digital divide” to refer to this gap between
those who can effectively use new information and
communication tools, such as the Internet, and those who
cannot. |
